In the wake of the race row, Diana has said: "This is not about me, this is about the level of racism that is still in Britain. This is about the way that black women are disrespected !!
Diane Abbott has appeared at a rally where she hit out at the "level of racism that is still in Britain", following a row over comments made about her.
Ina report to the Guardian Diana said that ;
“Reading his (Frank Hester) remarks, I was upset but not surprised. This is partly because I am hardened to racist abuse. I receive hundreds of abusive emails, phone calls and letters monthly, and the numbers shoot up whenever I am in the media. Most of this correspondence targets my appearance, questions my intelligence and features classic racist lines such as: ‘go back to where you come from’. Recently, the abuse has taken an even darker turn, with accusations of child abuse. For instance: ‘If you and your child want to fuck children, go back to one of your sick third-world shitholes and bury yourself, sicko.’”
WHO IS DIANA ABBOTT
Dianna Abbot was born in London in 1953, she attended the Harrow County grammar school and attended Newnham College Cambridge where she obtained a Masters degree in history.
After leaving Cambridge, Diane joined Government as a Home Office Civil Servant, working for the lobby group the National Council for Civil Liberties, before moving into journalism. Diana has worked extensively as a freelancer and then as a reporter for the breakfast television company TV-AM and Thames Television. She was also working as a public relations consultant.

Spectator / Threadneedle Speech of the Year Award and a Human Rights Award from Liberty was given to Diana in 2008.
DIANA'S CAREER
We thank her for her outstanding work in her longstanding role as a Counsellor and Member of Parliament for Hackney North and Stoke Newington. Diana also served in the Shadow Cabinet of Jeremy Corbyn as Shadow Home Secretary from 2016 - 2020.
Throughout Diana's working life she has consistently experienced bad behaviour and verbal abuse. And the work she has done often ripped to shreds.. And I'm being polite.
To date Diana Abbot was the first black woman to be elected in a parliamentary position and is also the longest serving black woman MP.
Diane also Chairs the British-Caribbean All-Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) and the APPG for Sickle Cell and Thalassemia. Diane is founder of the London Schools and the Black Child initiative, which aims to raise educational achievement levels amongst Black children X
