Following the outcome of the New Hospital Programme review on Monday 20 January we understand that the Royal Berkshire Hospital’s new hospital programme will be delayed and we are now scheduled to start construction between 2037 and 2039 with an allocation of £2 billion.
Whilst we are pleased that the Government have recognised that we need a whole new hospital, we are extremely disappointed with the delay and share your understandable frustrations. You, our staff, patients and wider community deserve better.
We know the condition of our current hospital presents challenges and despite the delay we will continue to invest in our estate, our equipment and digital to ensure we can continue to deliver the highest quality care to our population.
