🙌🏿❤CALLING ALL WINDRUSH VETERANS
As you know we are doing Notting Hill Carnival in August, WGLA and Transport for London are collaborating and reaching out to 20 Windrush Veterans & second generation to give them an opportunity to be celebrated as they should have been when they arrived in the UK from 1948 - 1971, on the top deck of our Carnival Windrush extravaganza or by just getting involved, this could be sitting on our bus and waving.
This is history in the making as Tfl have never had a presence at carnival and the recognition has never been given to the Windrush Generation in they way it will be in this Windrush 75 Anniversary year.
This year they will have a brand new all singing and all dancing ULEZ bus wrapped in Windrush stories and amazing artwork from one of the artists who have produced part of the Windrush stamp collection. The bus has air conditioning, toilet facilities and food and drink.
In addition there we have a 40 foot carnival truck with open top, this will be decorated to reflect the Windrush Legacy.
If you know an elder who you would like to join in this memorable occasion please let me know as soon as possible (you may be able to accompany them too).
We have organised transport (mini bus) from East Croydon and return to East Croydon on both days.
The elders are and will be treated like VIPs they will not have a real sense of the crowds as they will be within security controlled areas at all times.
Safety is our priority so please note we have this on lock down with the Carnival organisers.
Get involved now and be part of another piece of our history!
This event will also be televised and recorded by Channel 5, for a Black History documentary being aired in October 2023 ❤️🚢😊
Please share this with suitable interested people. We have limited space so please get in touch with me asap.
