The Howard Partnership Trust

Dear Mr Wilson,

RE: Incident that took place at or around Thomas Knyvett College on 6th February 2023

I am writing to express my consternation at the disturbing video of a young Black Child being brutally assaulted by a group of children who were being encouraged by their parents.

As you know whilst the young child was at School the School was in loco parentis and therefore responsible for her safety. Her safety was in jeopardy and none of the adults around or even staff at the school moved with any urgency to protect her.

Mr Richard Beeson Headteacher of Thomas Knyvett College was seen strolling whilst a pupil was being attacked and only acted when in fact the attack ended. I am therefore writing to lodge a formal complaint about the inaction of the headteacher.

I have seen the camera footage of Mr Beeson, on Monday 6 February appearing to stand idly aside as a child of African/Caribbean heritage was being violently beaten by a group of girls at the junction of Salcombe Road and Stanwell Road at around 2.30pm.

He watched a 39 year-old woman, a 16-year-old girl, as well as the group, physically and verbally abuse the African/Caribbean young girl; yet he did not intervene to stop the beating until after the attack ended.

All he did from the video was intervene at the end; stand in front of the victim and said nothing whatsoever to the perpetrators.

The Black Community will no longer tolerate this type of discriminatory and racist behaviour (on the video you can hear the racist abuse from the adults who were encouraging the assault).

I wish to reiterate again my concern that a Black child was not only racially abused, which is a crime but physically assaulted and the School who are in loco parentis acted so slowly to protect her. This should not be happening in 2023 especially with the Equality Act 2010 on the statute books.

We expect you as Chair of Trustees of the school to not only urgently investigate the actions of the School staff but hold Mr Beeson to account with appropriate action being taken.

The complaint will be escalated to the National Governance Association unless the matter is fully investigated and the outcome of the investigation relayed to me and my community organisation within 14 days.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Yours sincerely,

PETITION UPDATE

20 FEB 2023 —

Hello everyone,

Thanks to everyone who has signed and shared this petition. We are still on this case and it is far from over. School resumed today after the half-term break. Thomas Knyvett Board of Governors need to issue a statement on what is being done about this issue - what measures have been taken to address the obvious failings by Richard Beeson.

We won’t be silence and we won’t let you sweep this under the carpet.

YOU need to provide the public with a response. Are we ready to take a stand? Is this going to be the status quo or are we willing to stand up for what’s right and rid the nation of wickedness.
