Colleagues, it is with deep sadness that I have to let you know that Sophia Ramcharan died this morning.
My deepest condolences to her family and friends. Sophia loved Jamaica and wanted to contribute to the development of the Diaspora.
She will be remembered for her efforts to promote Black films and culture in Nottingham. I can't belief she is gone. May she rest in eternal peace! 😔😢🙏🇯🇲
Sophia was a young woman who was a key member of the JDUK organisation she was also a film producer/editor at BBC Nottingham a staunch community activist we were in discussion to work on a number of projects she will be sadly missed

The JDUK Board has agreed to organise a tribute and make a donation on behalf of our Publicity Officer Sophia Ramcharan who passed away on Sunday
The donations will go towards a floral tribute and the rest will go towards her family
