Sickle Cell Awareness Day Event on 21 June 2023.

Sickle Cell Awareness Day Event on 21 June 2023.

International Sickle Cell Awareness Day is on the 19th June each year. It may not be commonly known, judging by the coverage in the media, but sickle cell is the most common genetic condition found in the UK and one that is particularly prevalent amongst people of African origin.

Please join us on Wednesday 21st June 2023 at 6.30pm – 8.00pm on zoom for our annual local sickle cell awareness day event. Come and meet the new sickle cell nurse at Watford General Hospital (Asiawu Iman) and also get an update on sickle cell developments nationally from John James OBE. John is the CEO of the Sickle Cell Society.

This is a great opportunity to learn more about the condition and what we can all do to make a difference.

The event is organised by the Watford African Caribbean Association’s Sickle Cell and Thalassemia Support Group.

Please extend the invitation to family and friends so we can spread the word far and wide.
