2. Its flag is one of only two national flags that features a firearm, the other being Guatemala

3. The famous Portuguese explorer Vasco da Gama was the first recorded European to visit Mozambique in 1498

4. Mozambique is one of the world's leading producers of cashew nuts

5. The country is more than 3 times the size of Uganda 🇺🇬, although it has a population of nearly 30 Million less than Uganda

6. Despite its expansive land area and a wealth of natural resources, the country ranks 5th poorest in the world

7. Only about 30% of the country’s population has access to electricity, despite almost 40% of the population living in urban areas

8. From the Northern Tip of Mozambique (on the boarder with Tanzania 🇹🇿) to Maputo, the Capital of Mozambique is nearly 3,000 KMs
